Linagliptin (Trajenta)

Linagliptin (Trajenta) is a once daily, prescription-only tablet for type 2 diabetes, a common long-term condition where the body becomes resistant to insulin and blood sugar (glucose) rises too high. Type 2 diabetes affects nearly 6 million people across the UK and is usually linked to genetics, older age, carrying excess weight and inactivity, causing symptoms such as tiredness, excessive thirst, needing to pass urine often and blurred vision. Alongside diet, exercise and blood glucose monitoring, it is managed with prescription medicines including metformin, SGLT2 inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors (gliptins) such as linagliptin.
